Since Forster Hardy designed the first Hardy reel and patented it in 1888, Hardy has maintained an unsurpassed reputation for reel production. Using state of the art modern technology, such as Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machining units, we are now able to combine lightness with strength to produce reels finished with incredible precision.

All Hardy reels are precision-engineered to uncompromisingly high standards and offer ultimate performance and exceptional value. 6262 bat stock aluminum billet is a particularly dense grade of alloy used extensively in the aerospace industry. It allows us to produce lightweight large arbor reels that speed up line retrieval and reduce line curl. Other Hardy reels are superb design classics with which you can experience the excitement of fishing with masterpieces that represent all that's best from Hardy's long heritage.

If you like fishing with light tackle, you will love the Hardy Lightweight series. The Lightweight reel is a classic design, that was first introduced in 1958, and which has been improved and refined ever since to remain the benchmark within its class for value and quality. There are six reels in the series, weighing from 25/8 ounces to 61/4 ounces for trout, sea trout, grilse and small salmon.

Gravity die-cast from aluminum alloy, then diamond-machined to a fine finish and fitted with a nickel silver line guard, the Hardy Lightweight has a compensating click check system that transmits maximum excitement when you play a fish. The anodized and stove-enameled reel has a gun metal cage and matt silver spool with a latch, allowing a quick spool change as conditions dictate.

The ultimate fly-fishing reel for both freshwater and saltwater fishing offering all the advantages of a large arbor design, yet with the line capacity to handle the most aggressive fish.

Precision machined from bar stock aluminum with a deep anodized gunmetal finish for corrosion resistance, this reel is a real performer under extreme duress. The reel foot is dovetailed to the frame and secured with stainless steel screws. The counterbalanced spool runs on 3 stainless steel bearings to minimize friction when a fish is taking line out at full tilt. A low inertia disc drag system, incorporates an Avcarb™ brake pad, the material that's used on the brakes of military aircraft.

The reel can be operated silently or with an audible click. Anyone driven to distraction changing spools on most saltwater reels will appreciate the tool-free spool release. In addition, a Hardy patent switch instantly changes the outgoing drag from right to left-hand winding.

The Hardy Ultralite Disc Large Arbor reel is an exceptionally lightweight fly reel. Its perforated frame and spool, precision machined from bar stock aluminum for the greatest possible structural strength. Backing capacity is excellent, so you can confidently let a strong fish run.

The smoothly operating Rulon™ disc drag system can be fast-focused from minimum to maximum drag with a half turn of the regulator button and maintains consistent pressure on a running line, even when immersed in water.

The reel has an anodized satin silver finish with black highlights and is designed with an exposed rim for palm control and a quick release latch for changing spools.

Ultralite reels are the lightest fly reels for a given line capacity. The reels are machined from bar stock aluminum for the greatest possible structural strength.

The Ultralite Disc has a black anodized finish with silver highlighting and a disc drag system that can be fast-focused from minimum to maximum drag with a single turn of the regulator. The reel can be set to an audible click if desired, and there's a quick release latch for the interchangeable spool.

Viscount reels offer all the benefits of large arbor performance at incredible value. The Viscount Disc Large Arbor reel is machined from bar stock aluminum, and features a perforated spool and drum to create a strong yet extremely lightweight design. The Rulon™ disc drag system is focused using the finger-tip drag adjuster and the exposed rim allows palm control. The reel is beautifully finished in black and is anodized for freshwater or saltwater use.

Viscount's sister reel, the MKIII click-check series is suited to all freshwater fly fishing. The reel is diamond-turned from gravity die-cast aluminum alloy. The compensating check adjusts to a wide range of drag pressures. The reel and fittings are anodized then stove-enameled in lustrous brown. The Viscount MKIII, carrying a #5/6 line is also available in the Viscount Outfit.

If you want a floating line that allows you to lift a really good length of line off the water, then you need one that has superb buoyancy. Our new Perfection floating line fits the bill. Available in a golden tan colour, it stays right at the top so you can aerialise it in an instant with minimum disturbance to the water. It also has a taper profile that gives optimum momentum to a cast line so you cast a good distance with minimum effort.
